First day at work with Daddy!

Stryker got to go to work with daddy for a little while this morning. Not quite the time we wished for but I was battling the stomach virus so Logan had to take care of Stryker. It was Logan's weekend to work; therefore, our little boy had to go to work with daddy. Logan had to drive the car out on the golf course just to check the greens so Stryker wouldn't have to be in the cold. He'll enjoy being at work with daddy when he's a little older & the weather's warmer. Thankfully, Coco was able to come help Logan with Stryker for a little while after she got off work. I love my family. Today was also the first day that I was away from my little boy. It devastated me that I couldn't be with him all day since I was sick. This proved to me just how hard it's going to be when I return to work.

First Bath

Finally able to give Stryker a real bath instead of a sponge bath. Logan & I were unsure how he'd react to the water. He surprised us...did not cry once. Logan sat on the edge of the tub holding him while I bathed him. With all the previous sponge baths, Stryker cried. Guess he just wanted to be in the water. Maybe he'll love to swim in the future!

Mommy did better last night

Last night was the first night for Stryker to sleep in his own crib...well, until his first feeding. I'm trying to wean myself from him sleeping in our bed. We let him sleep in his crib until 1am when I put him in our bed after feeding him. I guess that will be the plan for the next few nights until I feel comfortable letting him sleep the whole night in his crib. Never thought it would be this hard to allow our child to be away from me. I'm definitely eating my words that I spoke before getting pregnancy! Children seem to change you so much. All priorities change.

Back to my birth weight already!!!!

Being a premie has not slowed little Stryker down & neither has the "spitting up" episodes. Stryker was born at 6 lbs 13 oz & left the hospital at 6 lbs 7 oz. Ideally, a baby should be back to his/her birth weight by 2 wks. Stryker made it!!! Coco & I took him to get weighed this morning to find out he weighed 6 lbs 13.3 oz!!!! I'm sure all the nurses thought I was crazy b/c I was so excited. As soon as we got in the car, I called Logan to give him the good news about his little Munchkin.

First sound

Stryker's first sound...smacking his lips! He used this sound to tell us that he was hungry. Now, he's figured out that he enjoys making that sound. Stryker smacks his lips all the time! This is the only time that smacking is cute :)

I'm such a softy!!!!

I'm beginning to think Stryker is doing better than I am. Last night was going to be the first night that Stryker slept in his own crib. Before putting him to bed, I asked Logan to put the air mattress on the floor of the nursery. I know sad, right?! I just couldn't sleep knowing Stryker was in his crib all night for the first time. Logan had to sleep in there with us b/c I had our sheets & comforter on the air mattress. It was very cramped to say the least!

So proud of my little boy!!!

Ever since being home from the hospital, Stryker's had his days & nights mixed up. Our pediatrician suggested waking him up every 3 hrs during the day for feedings encouraging him to sleep more at night. Last night was a success! He slept 10:30pm - 3am, ate, then slept until 7am. We're extremely proud of him for being such a big boy. I guess the real test will be tonight when he actually sleeps in his own crib.

Week 2

Monday was a rough day for me. Stryker turned 1 wk old which made me truly realize how quickly time flies. Logan had to return to work which was hard for both of us. I wish he could take more time off. Fortunately, Logan didn't have to go the whole day without seeing his little munchkin. We picked daddy up at work Monday morning for Stryker's 1 wk doctor's appt. Taking my little boy to the doctor was definitely a learning experience. I've always been on the other side as the healthcare professional not as the parent. Now, I truly understand how my patients' parents feel. It's hard for me to not think the worst on every issue with Stryker. Having medical knowledge is sometimes a bad thing. Just need to leave it in God's hands & trust in Him. Thankfully, my mom (Coco) has been with us for this wk. She took off from work to spend time with Stryker. She loves her grandson so much. I can only hope to be half the mom she was for me.

Charles-Stryker Holden Green

Monday, Feb. 15th 2010: Happy Birthday Stryker!

We've awaited his arrival for some time now even though the original due date was March 9th. I went on bedrest at 30 wks (2 wks on bedrest at Brookwood Hospital & 4 wks on bedrest at home). On Sunday, Feb. 14th (Valentine's Day), I woke Logan from his sleep around 10:30pm insisting he call Dr. Adcock because I was having painful contractions. Logan, my mom (Coco), & I arrived at Brookwood Hospital around 11:30pm in which nurses informed us that I was in labor but my contractions were not effective. I was still at 3 cm dilated & 90% effaced at this time. I progressed fairly fast with labor. Stryker was born at 2:01pm on Monday, Feb. 15th. He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz & 20 in long. God has blessed our family with a wonderful little boy! Stryker will be able to say that it actually snowed on the night of his birthday in Alabama. We came home with our new addition on Wednesday afternoon. Before leaving the hospital, a photographer from The Birmingham News took pictures of our new family for an article being published on Thursday. Logan & Stryker made the front page! So proud of the two amazing guys in my life.
