Stryker enjoying his present this morning (still waiting on the battery to charge)
the massive Raptor box finally loaded on the buggy
the finished product; special thanks to my hubby for staying up late to put it together (we still have to buy batteries for the radio & let the truck battery charge for 18 hours before Stryker can ride it)
Last night, Logan & I planned a date night! Coco kept Stryker allowing us to enjoy a night together. With Logan working 6 days a week, it's hard to squeeze in "us" time. Marriage is work & we work hard to keep our marriage strong which includes date nights. We ate delicious seafood at Red Lobster. I am truly blessed to have such a tall, handsome, compassionate, athletic, Christian hubby! After dinner, we shopped for the perfect present for our little boy's 2 year old birthday. This is where the story gets interesting...
We decided earlier to buy a power wheel for Stryker, but had to make the final decision between one at Toys R Us or Walmart. Walmart was our first stop of the night which ended up being our only stop since we saw exactly what we were looking for...the Ford Raptor! It comes with a real radio & working tailgate! Logan & I were certain that Styker would love it. In the above pics, you can see how big the box is...keep that in mind as I finish the story. There were not any Walmart employees on the floor so we had to load it. The only buggy Logan could find was a regular one which did not leave much room for the box. Thankfully, the box was on the lowest shelf. Logan & I held the buggy with our feet to keep it still while trying to load the box. Now, Logan had an easier time since his 6'6" wing span could reach each side of the box easily. I was a different story. My 5'5" wing span didn't help me. We finally loaded the box on the buggy. I pushed the buggy from the back while Logan guided the buggy from the front, since you couldn't see over or around the box. We definitely got some looks from customers as we took our massive purchase up to the registers. As we approached the automatic exit doors, I realized the box was going to be too tall to fit through. But before I could get it out of my mouth to Logan, Logan pulled the buggy jamming the top of the box into the door frame. I started laughing so Logan thought the buggy was just caught on something so he proceeded to tug even harder! I finally had to point it out to him because he couldn't understand me over my laughter! We had to reposition the box on the buggy. Again, not an easy task. Finally, we were out of the store. We were parked close to the front so we didn't have far to go. Logan readjusted the seats in the back of our Tahoe to make room for our little guy's present. As we started to load the box, we realized it wouldn't fit (yes, we tried every direction). Can I mention that since we were in the front of the parking lot that we got even more looks from people?! Guess, they wanted to see our problem solving skills. It began to drizzle outside which complicated things. We quickly unloaded the back row of seats before deciding to open the box & put all of the pieces individually in the back of the Tahoe. Yes, we actually did this. Opening the huge box in the parking lot, our back row seats on the ground beside the car all with it starting to rain resulted in even more looks & giggles from customers. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of this or even the extremely tightly packed car because we were just trying to get everything in before the rain got heavy. Hey, you do whatever it takes for your children! I'm just glad that there wasn't anyone we knew that passed by.
